He Has Overcome Sin

My sinful, unholy nature comes between me and God, who is righteous and holy. God created me to love and worship Him, to be with Him eternally, but this is an impossibility in my corruption.  Still, He pursues me. He continues with His intention.

In the Israelites’ tabernacle, there was a room, a heavily veiled room which held the ark of the covenant, a chest of gold made to the specifications of God. It held sacred items such as the tablets of the Ten Commandments. The High Priest entered this inner sanctum once a year  to atone for his sins and the sins of his people in the presence of God. One person, the holiest of the people, once a year, could encounter God. He spoke for all, atoned for all, represented all in the Holy of the Holies.

When Christ, my High Priest, died for my sins and rose again to join with God in Heaven, that veil was torn. Each one, including this one, having been bestowed with the gift Christ’s brilliant holiness, can stand before God. In the name of Christ who has made me holy before God, I—not a priest but a child—am forever in the embrace of the Holy God.

Jesus made the way perfect for me.  He is my friend. He gave His life to give me eternal life with the Father. He overcame the barrier of my sin because He loves the Father and He loves me

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.            John 15:13
