There are thousands of God’s promises in the Bible–promises and provisions, so that I may “participate in the divine nature” of God. 2 Peter 1:4 What a privilege, the most exquisite and loving gift! How my God loves me.
God wants to share everything with me, even His divine nature! He wants me to have an earthly life that is abounding with His goodness, and to avoid the things in life that draw me away from Him. When I, a child of God, saved by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, am obedient and humble myself to Him, His promises are mine.
Imagine, the Creator of the universe making promises to me! He provides exactly what I need to be reconciled, lifted and blessed in His goodness. Like a parent who wants his child to have all good things, to lead a blessed life producing and partaking to the fullest, knowing that she is loved and cherished most highly.
I am living in a broken world, but I have a great God. He provided Jesus, the way, the truth and the life. His provisions are neither sparse nor frivolous. They are wholly perfect, exactly what I need to live fully in Him.
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 2 Peter 1:3-4
